best/most christmas gifts from 2009

For not expecting much, nor asking for much this year in the way of Christmas presents, besides a crock pot (which I got) and Botox (which I didn’t get, but might still get before the year is up), I had an extremely fruitful Christmas this year. Here are the highlights (I’m also sneaking in my #best09 stationery post):

MOST “UNIQUE”

An hourglass, that is really a five-minute-glass, shaped like a phallic symbol and looks like something I need to give to my cute neighbor to smoke his stash out of.

(Celine, I love it though. I do).

BEST, MOST LUSCIOUS STATIONERY THAT WILL ENCOURAGE ME TO BE CREATIVE IN 2010

This chic notepad stocking stuffer says “How will you give something beautiful to the world”. I can’t wait to start brainstorming on my something beautiful.

MOST LIKELY A RE-GIFT

This fancy carafe which had water spots on it, so I’m guessing it’s a re-gift. A USED re-gift to be exact–even better!

But this person who shall remain nameless made up for it with this,

BEST GIFT FROM SOMEONE WHO USUALLY GIVES LESS-THAN-DESIRABLE ONES

A Deviled Egg Tray–Heck Yeah! I’ve been wanting one of these for years and finally got one from the person who usually gives me ceramic figurines, ankle socks and re-gifts.

Though, now that I think about it, the box does have smudges on it, and it did not come in any plastic wrap, so this one is probably a re-gift too. But that’s okay, because I LOVE IT!

MOST LIKELY TO BE USED EVERY DAY

This is an adorable little plaque that hubby found at a boutique in Encinitas says “Just Breathe.” It’s found a home in my kitchen and has literally reminded me to breathe at least 45 times in the past 2 days. It’s amazing how much I forget to breath. Note to self–GET BACK TO YOGA!

BEST GIFT THAT I DIDN’T ASK FOR BUT SECRETLY WANTED

The Chi flat iron. I got this from my BFF Mern and apparently it is the Cadillac of hair appliances. I just recently learned that a flat iron is the next best thing since 100 Calorie Snack Packs, but never mentioned it to anyone as something I wanted. And ta da–BFF came all the way from the big apple with 10 of them, one for each of her female friends and family members.

BEST SURPRISE

A few weeks ago, my girl Mel, A Dramatic Mommy, told me all about the annual BlogHer conference that is taking place in NYC this summer and majorly piqued my interest in going. Since my hubby has been traveling so much lately, I have not had a moment to even talk to him about it. RANDOMLY, on his own, he searched the internet to find a conference or something blogger-related to send me to this year, and voila, he SURPRISED me with registration for BlogHer ’10 at the end of the night on Xmas. Woo Hoo! (Anyone want to be my roomie???)

BEST INSPIRATION FOR ME TO GET MY BOOTY IN SHAPE NEXT YEAR

A pair of saucy, lacy, leopard print panties. Purrrrr! (no photo included since this is a family blog)

Speaking of purrrrr…

MOST HORRYFYING CHRISTMAS CARD (EVER!)

Side note: This video was taken by me with my BRAND NEW FLIP CAM which was my other big ticket item this Christmas. Stay tuned for more snazzy videos from Mama Mary in 2010!

seriously, (not that i was kidding in my previous post) . . . this is a fun read. and hey, if you can remember where you put things, you’ve got a whopper of a headstart on next year’s christmas shopping.

I’m so tempted by BlogHer, maybe I can ask for it as an early bday present. I’d be your roomie, or I’d watch your adorable kids. I’m well aware that both of those requests must seem at least marginally creepy since we’ve never actually met :o)

    But still…it’s the thought!
