redemption for the family portrait fiasco

A few months ago I posted this video about my first family portrait professional photo session and what a disaster it was. Check it out if you missed it back then.

After two months of thinking that no decent pix could have possibly come out of that dreadful shoot, my photographer emailed me with the good news that my pix were ready to view. I grabbed a glass of wine and a screen protector, since I certain that the hideousness of the pix was going to make me spit my wine out. But then, much to my delight, these are what I came to find:

(I love this one, though adults in the crouching tiger, hidden dragon pose is not all that attractive…).

I used these pics on our Xmas cards so the shoot ended up to be a success after all, though there were really only about ten good pix out of the lot. Again, I’ll say that it wasn’t the photographer’s fault. She does great work, as you can see by her year in review video; we just had the cards stacked against us that night.

The last photo is one of my favorite pix. When Lily saw it on our Xmas card, she stomped her foot and crawled inside her Princess tent to pout. She wasn’t too happy that her face isn’t visible. (Did I ever mention she is JUST LIKE ME!). Anyway, I love the pic for the lighting and the color treatment the photog added, and of course for the pigtails, but I also like it for what it represents. Looking back on memories of the past and looking forward to the bright future ahead. And what a bright future it’s gonna be.

Yup, the last one is priceless…
You can’t see those darling little curls at the back of their necks when they’re looking at the camera.

the last picture is absolutely gorgeous. and I will remember to never put a family in the crouching tiger pose – although you all do look fantastic.
