lulabellez and merry berry the cupcake fairy: a unique girl’s party theme

If you have a little girl between the 3-7 age range and are looking for an alternative to the over-done My Little Pony, Dora the Explorer and Tangled party ideas, look no more.

A few months ago I wrote about a brand new children’s book called What Kind of Fairy is Merry Berry? that was written and illustrated by my friend & neighbor, Lindsey Renee. When her book and product line “Lulabellez” launched back in March, Lindsey gave my kids a signed copy of the book and a few of the products. Lily didn’t take her Merry Berry costume off for a week, and soon after, she decided she wanted to have a Merry Berry birthday party.

Six months later, the first EVER, Merry Berry the Cupcake Fairy birthday party was born.

There are endless possibilities for a cupcake fairy themed party. I didn’t want to go over board but I did a few small things to keep in line with the theme.

First on the list was cupcakes. Knowing that I am a hot mess in the kitchen, our dear family friend Elizabeth offered to supply the cupcakes. The funny thing is that she’s not too adept at baking either, so, she had them made by a friend of hers who took the cartoon images from the book to design the cupcakes.

The Happy Birthday banner in the background is a free download from the Lulabellez website. She will be adding to her free downloads continuously, and currently offers these cute coloring pages with all the various Lulabellez fairies.

(The retro pink sunglasses were swag from BlogHer and just happened to match the party!)

The one thing I splurged on, which my husband and the other dads thanked me for later, was a Merry Berry costume character to read the book aloud to the kids. My husband commented today about how “nice” she was and then maybe something about her eyes.

The kids absolutely loved the story and LOVED Merry Berry. They kept getting closer and closer to her as the story progressed.

My favorite aspect of the party were the cupcake necklaces that we gave away as party favors. I found Tracy of Creme De La Gems via Mique of the Queen Bee Market, and I am so happy I did. Tracy makes darling charms, pins, & hair accessories for girls and moms, with incredible detail and style. Here is the cupcake charm she made for Lily and her guests.

And here is a hair clip she made with Merry Berry Cupcake Fairy, without me even asking. Tracy, girl, you are amazing!

It certainly helped to have the creator of the book live a few houses away so she could make this amazing birthday crown.

It only took three turns to bat for each girl at the party to finally crack it. I was pretty impressed.

Overall the party was a huge success and a ton of fun for the little kiddos. If you’re interested in having a Merry Berry party for your little girl, let me know in the comments and I’ll put you in touch with Lindsey and also Merry Berry’s agent.

You can purchase a copy of What Kind of Merry Berry from Amazon, and be sure to check her blog for new, fun downloads.

Bella had so much fun at Lily’s party! She was talking about Merry Berry for days. I haven’t asked Sam what he thought of her….hmmm. I really need to purchase the book then bring it over to Lindsey so Bella can get an author-autograph!

Not only that, but a lot of those books had to have been purchased for color, not for cetnont. Most of the spines on the books I have are multicolored, with distinctly different font color.

Hello!I also moved from California to Vienna and have a dog, and I was wondering if you know of any other dog parks in Vienna. For some ridiculous reason I can only find the parks that dogs are NOT allowed in.
