steve jobs, a tribute

A tribute:

I never knew you personally, Mr. Jobs, but you played a pivotal role in my life, and I feel compelled to honor your memory.

I am typing this through tears, on my MacBook Pro, that has been a fifth appendage ever since I got it three years ago.

Because of you I have been able to create a career for myself, while still being able to be at home with my children. You have kept me connected, creative, and current via this silver box of genius. You have given me a livelihood that I never expected, nor would have had otherwise, and for that I am forever grateful.

And don’t even get me started on my iPhone. Because of you I can get a XOXOX text from my husband when he is working overseas and I can take endless photos & videos of my kids to forever capture their cuteness as they grow up before my eyes.

You not only made geek chic, but you also made it mainstream and attainable to non-techy people like myself.

You made it possible to stand in line at the DMV by providing my kids distractions in the form of Apps and games.

You made it possible for me to instantly identify a song I liked on the radio this morning, purchase it and tweet it out, all in the matter of minutes.

You were a pioneer, a fearless leader, and an inspiration. You left your mark in infinite ways.

So true, Kerry. He definitely accomplished that and so much more than probably he even imagined or understood. Amazing!

I ADORE that image tribute. Of all the ones I’ve seen it’s still my fav. And I feel silly, but his passing also hit me hard!

    • Mary says:

I love that image too. It was designed by a 19 year old from China which is fascinating to me, though I don’t know why. His death definitely hit me hard too. The extent to his impact on the world is not comprehensible.

You said it all! He was an amazing man, and I hope that he was a mentor to an amazing person, because I can’t imagine my life without many, many more Apple products.

Thanks Sherri! It feels strange to mourn the loss of someone I’ve never met, but after thinking about his impact on the world and my life in particular, I definitely feel saddened by his passing.
