His perfectly manicured mini-mohawk that has become a symbol of his tough-guy-gone-crooner role on GLEE is what I noticed first. Then, I caught a glimpse of his bottom lip, and I knew it had to be him. Yes, there, just a few feet away from me stood Mark Salling, aka Noah “Puck” Puckerman.
My husband, Steve, and I were in Vegas, with a few of his buddies, and we were walking through the parking garage of our hotel, THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay, when I spotted Salling and a few of his friends standing in the taxi line waiting for a cab.
I non-discreetly hit Steve in the arm and non-whispered “Hey look, it’s Puck. It’s freaking Puck.” Thanks to some lubrication from liquid courage, I walked right up to him.
I am not certain as to what kind of gushiness came spewing out, but it went something like, “Just want you to know I really love your show. I’m a huge fan. You are awesome.”
Again, I’m not sure what I said, word-for-word, but basically, I completely GLEEked out. In retrospect I’m wishing I could’ve come up with something clever like, “Who’s a better kisser, Lea or her on-screen mom, Idina?” or, “Is hard to keep a straight face when Finn starts dancing?” but I am not very quick-on-my-feet, especially when nearly thirty hours into a Vegas weekend.
BUT, what I did have the cojones to say was, “Can I take your picture?” and, much to my delight, he graciously said “Sure.”
Thank god my husband is the wicked awesome guy that he is, he grabbed the camera from me and said, “hey Mary, hop in there, I’ll take it of the two of you.”
Additional celebrity sightings included:
Brooke Burke being interviewed by my husband’s co-worker, Ann Wessling, just before the Inaugural Stiletto Dash. It’s not the best pic of her, but look at those legs!
The Stiletto Dash was a fundraising off-shoot of the Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, which included one hundred and fifty women, and some men, running in 3″+ high heels, down a red carpet, through the middle of The Palazzo Casino. A few celebrities were there as well, including Brooke Burke. Check out the Competitor.com website for images and details of the Stiletto Dash.
James Gandolfini on the balcony of the Foundation Room on top of the Mandalay Bay. but I didn’t have the courage to say anything to him; too afraid I would get whacked.
I caught up with him after his sound check at the pre-race concert just before the Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. That sighting was actually pre-arranged and I’ll be posting my interview later this week on TodaysMama.com. What I can tell you is that he is as nice and unassuming as he seems on TV.
Stay tuned for more about my trip to Vegas, including the Five Must Do’s while in Vegas.
