american idol season 11 – favorites and early predictions

Though I’m always a little off-base, I like to make early American Idol predictions just for the hell of it. Last year, Scotty McCreery was in my “honorable mentions” list at this stage of the game, but nowhere in my radar of winning. But last year was a random black hole of country music that made me want to poke my eyeballs out, so hopefully this year turns out a little better.

This season, season 11, it’s all about the guys for me. None of the gals have won me over but almost all of the guys have won my heart.

Here are my top 4 picks for the guys:

1) COLTON DIXON:

He’s reminiscent of Kris Allen and me likey.

2) HEEJUN HAN

My affinity for Heejun (aka Hey Jude) could be due in part to my husband being half Korean, or it could be just that his voice is like butter and he turns me to goo every time he sings. He’s also adorable. I am pulling for him to go far. Just please refrain from the Asian jokes or you might get fired.

3) REED GRIMM

Though he’s probably more suited for a cabaret stage than the Idol stage, I adore this guy and his wild, thespian antics. He’s quirky, real musician, very much like one of my fave contestants, Casey Abrams.

4) PHILIP PHILLIPS

This has chap has the good looks of Jude Law and the rock star quality of Chris Martin. Love, love, love this guy!

As for the girls, I am liking Jen Hirsh, Baylie Brown, Erika the “mobile DJ” and Haley Johnson, but like I said, I have not fallen for any of them yet.

As for which guy they are going to bring back, I think it’s going to be David Leathers or Johnny Keyser.

My WAY early predictions are that Colton and Phillip will be in the finale with Jen Hirsh and Haley Johnson. That’s three months away, however, so anything can happen.
