I must admit something to you all. I have done something I SWORE I would NEVER do. I made the switch from reading real books to reading books on my iPad.
Yes, I did it.
Don’t lynch me.
I truly LOVE books, like the actual physical books. It’s a love I inherited from my dad. I cried when Borders closed and I have always insisted on buying my own copies of my book club books, rather than borrowing or renting or downloading, because I love to hold the actual book in my hand.
That is, until now. Now, I have seen the way of the tablet reading and I’m not sure I can ever go back.
Once you go tablet. . .
After watching the video above, let me know how you feel about this admission and if you yourself have coverted or if you think I can convince you to do so.

Okay so I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE paperback and hard-cover books. To the point where we have a large basket full of “coffee table reading” beneath our side table in the living room. There’s just something awesome about the feel and the design and the experience of a real-life book. But…a friend got me a kindle last Christmas and I love the shit out of it. It’s currently MIA which kills me because I have a couple of new reads loaded up on that thing that I’m dying to read while I “take my breaks” slash keep the insomnia industry in business. Welcome to the dark side. You can use my flashlight if’n you need’ta.
Oh man, you gotta find that thing! What books are on your list? I’m reading Super Sad True Love Story (on my iPad) and super truly love it!
One of the BIGGEST reasons I love it is that you don’t need a light. I read on my iPad in the dark while the hubby falls asleep. Or when insomnia hits, I can pop open my pad and not have to move to another room or disturb anyone to pass the minutes. I keep it on the nightstand daily to check emails right before bed and right when I wake up before hopping in the shower. It saves me from sitting at the computer where minutes slip into hours, thus I claim it is a timesaving/efficiency device as well. LOVE, love, love the iPad and when this one dies a replacement one will be the #1 item on any B-day, Christmas, Anniversary, Mother’s Day or nearest excuse gift list.
I can’t believe I didn’t think to add in a “pro” that you can read IN THE DARK. How amazing is that? I am with you girl, though I’m not sure about time saving since I find myself playing Solitaire way too frequently. : )
Oh, my god! I’m a book hugger (and sniffer? inhaler?) too. I have yet to embrace e-readers even though I am surrounded by them in my house. I suppose the day will come. I resisted having a smart phone for a long time and now I can’t imagine living without it.
You’ll come to the dark side one of these days, I’m sure of it. But man, I was in Barnes and Noble today and did my sharing of groping and sniffing.
