how to use puff pastry to make desserts and savory dishes

Last week I attended a “Home-Gating” party at my girl Theresa’s house with ten other bloggers and a whole lotta puff pastry. You could say I was in puff-heaven.

To be honest, before last week, I had never cooked or baked with puff pastry because I was intimidated by it, but after I saw (and tasted) the results, I was sold. Now I will be sure to have at least one box of both the Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry sheets AND one box of the Puff Pastry shells in my freezer at all times.

For those of you who are like me (not super savvy in the kitchen), Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry is going to become your new best friend. You can literally make a million different items, both sweet and savory, with a minimal amount of work.

My three favorite menu items (out of the 10 that they made) were the following:

Brauts in a Blanket

I could’ve just taken this plate into corner and had my own little puff-party by myself and would’ve been happy as a lark.

2. Breakfast in a Basket

You can make these with any kind of sausage and any kind of cheese and I know they will turn out as heavenly as these bites of morning goodness did.

3. Strawberry Vanilla Tart

Goodness me, this tart was a hit. And? I just salivated thinking about it again. Never did I think I’d be able to make a dessert that looked like that, but I totally can now that I know this little secret.

Recipes for all the above puff pastry deliciousness can be found on the MomSmack website.

I was so inspired at the puff pastry party that I went home and made my favorite appetizer from the Pepperidge Farm website myself:

Brie & Walnut Tartlets

These little bundles of  cheesy goodness were divine. They are also easy to make and to eat, and always a hit at any party. The full recipe can be found on the Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry website.

Whether you’re having a Football Sunday Home-Gating party, hosting you book club for dinner or just wanting to whip up something sweet for your kids, Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry is your answer.

I have to make an appetizer for Halloween party tomorrow and now I’m set! Thanks for the tips. BTW, the shells are perfect for filling with homemade mousse! I learned how to make homemade puff pastry at the CIA a few years ago, but with Pepperidge farm available, I would NEVER go thru ordeal of making it from scratch!
