The beginning of 2015 has gotten off to an amazing start with lots of positive changes in my life, one of which begins today.
For the first time in 6 years, I am officially a full-time employee. I’ve been hired to write creative content for a social media company that I have been freelancing with for the past few months. I love the company, the work, and the flexibility in hours they are affording me. Plus, I’ll still be able to blog and do my weekly Ask the Moms gig so don’t worry, Mama Mary fans, I won’t be going anywhere.
I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life, one that is coming on the heels and in-step with another enormous change in my life.
As I begin this new journey I am holding on to some wisdom imparted by the esteemed Will Smith on Jimmy Fallon’s first night as host of the Tonight Show.
The Fresh Prince talked about having a big mid-40’s birthday. Instead of fearing his maturing age, he decided to look at his life like a ball game with under-40 being the first half and over-40 being like the second half. He had a half-time locker room type talk with himself and said (I’m paraphrasing because I didn’t write it down at the time),
“Okay, let’s come out in the second half stronger and more fierce than the first half.”
I’m taking his advice to heart and am ready to tackle the second half with more tenacity and determination than I did in the first.
Let’s do this.
